Doing research on S.510 – FDA Food Safety Modernization Act. There seems to be some controversy around this bill, and its companion in the House.

    Our Pervasive Federal Government

Robert Higgs, senior fellow in political economy at the Independent Institute released an excellent article (in two parts) that beautifully illustrates the astonishing vastness and scope of Federal intrusion into almost every aspect of ourĀ  daily lives:

Nothing Outside the State: Part I

Nothing Outside the State: Part II

Please read both parts of this article, and give us your opinion.

Has the US federal government grown too big?

How much government is enough at the federal level?

What can we do to cut the size of the federal government?

What other questions can you come up with?

I thought this a fitting start to a blog dedicated to political dialogue and discussion of controversial topics.
